Number of participants: 45

An international Centropa, ESJF & FJH training seminar in Slovakia in cooperation with Euroclio

Dear educators and civil society activists,

We at Centropa and the ESJF (European Jewish Cemeteries Initiative), the Foundation for Jewish Heritage (FJH) and Euroclio invite you to join our joint two-day training seminar for 45 teachers from all over Europe on “Teaching Jewish heritage in your class. Using Jewish cemeteries in education“ on October 30th-31st, 2022 in Slovakia (city to be determined)

The training seminar allows participants to learn about the Jewish cultural heritage from renowned experts. Furthermore, participants are introduced to our educational tools, examine Jewish history and take a closer look at Jewish cemeteries and synagogues as a site of learning. Small-group exercises to develop lesson plans and projects for classroom use and extracurricular activities will take place.

We want to thank our supporters, the European Commission, for making this seminar possible.

The call is open to educators and representatives of NGOs working in the field of education from the Euroclio network. Applicants from project countries (Slovakia, Lithuania, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine, Hungary, Poland) will be prioritized, but other participants are also welcome to apply. Places for non-Euroclio members are subject to availability. The conference language will be English.

The seminar will be held in person. The deadline for applications is August 20, 2022.
We will choose the seminar participants based on the quality and thoughtfulness of their answers in this application by end of August.
