The project serves to remind and encourage schoolchildren and the entire city community to be interested in the culture of their country, including the Jewish people, by reviving memories of the culture of the Jewish people and their ways of life. The main goal of the model school will be to renovate the abandoned old Jewish cemetery in First Alytus in order to spread the word about the people that once lived here. Activities will include the clean up of the cemetery, the mapping of the cemetery, and the publication of a catalog of the gravestones and information about those buried there.
